No, you are not stupid at all
This is the way the system works !
It is designed to convert your PC into a multimedia web server (as written on the main web page).
So, your PC is like a bridge between your box and your client device.
It control the box and transcode with VLC the video stream.
So yes, it always has to be turned on when using the tool.
Some people wake-on-lan the Pc when it is required, to consume less eletricity.

Call me stupid ( and some of you will :) ) but to keep connected to my vu with xbmc , i have to keep my pc running to do so ! .. am i right ?
Its the only way i could connect remotely was to have it on and internet control active ??.
