Hello,

30 seconds is normal for a channel change during use in iOS mode : the program need first to switch the channel on the box and then prepare a Http Live Stream for you iOS device.
Http Live Stream are segmented files that are concecutivelly prepared on your PC and till the first file is ready it needs about 15 seconds ... Then the iOS device check for this first file and if ready it start to play ... Otherwise it wait again for 5 seconds, etc ...
So based on what I said, we are closed to 30 seconds

I wonder what the expected time should be when changing channels?

I have a Win7 32bits core3 machine running and the stream are coming nicely along, but I would love to have a bit faster channel change time than now. Just tried it with the IOS app on an Ipad2, and it takes 30 seconds before the stream appears. 500kbit/1:1/64k mono sound.

Is it possible to tweak vlc?
